About WikiMarion

WikiMarion is a community history of Marion, Indiana and Grant County.

The articles on this site were originally created by students at Marion High School between approximately 1995 and 2011, as part of a community history project led by Marion and Grant County historian William Munn. The site was built and maintained by Robert Lucas.

The City of Marion has recognized WikiMarion as a resource for the history of the community.

Content

Articles cover the people, places, buildings, events, and institutions that shaped Marion and the surrounding area — from the Gas Boom of the 1880s to the mid-twentieth century. Topics include historic architecture, local industry, schools and churches, notable residents, and significant events in the community’s history.
